Latest News - July 2021!
Hello Summer!

I haven’t written in a while because I haven’t been booking much. Though I have had a steady stream of standardized patient work (and it IS important work) but it is not particularly interesting to read or write about. Hence, my silence here.

But some great things have happened. Earlier this year, a short film I am in, I’LL TELL YOU WHEN YOU’RE OLDER won an award in a film festival in…wait for it….NIGERIA!!! NIGERIA!!! I’m in a film that WON AN AWARD IN NIGERIA! I’m mean, how many actors can say THAT! Boom!

In February, I was part of a new play reading via Zoom. The play, titled THE MAKERS READY, by Nick Mecikalski, is loosely based on Dante’s INFERNO. A friend of mine who knows the playwright cast the production. He cast actors he knew from all over the United States. And I was reminded at how truly small the acting community is in the United States. Aside from the actor who cast me, I learned that everyone else (each in a different state: NY, DC, TX, CO) had a different friend in common with me. We truly are all connected and it is a small world. The play is fabulous, and I am honored to have been asked to participate.

Speaking of a small world, I learned through DNA testing that I am a distant cousin of the Tony-award nominee Tug Yourgrau. He is a playwright and film/tv producer. If you know Tug, tell him that his cousin Alice would like to work with him. 

In May, I shot an episode of THE COMPLEX, a web series created by two friends of mine. The premise of the series is that we have “family of choice” rather than just family of relatives. I play a silly fan of a stand-up comedian. I LOVE working with friends and it was a great day on set. Distribution of THE COMPLEX is forthcoming, but I’ll share here and on social media as soon as I know where you can watch it. Here are a few still shots from the shoot:

A few weeks ago, I participated in “Career Day” for a middle school in Baltimore. I spoke to three classes about what it is like to be an actor. To my utter SHOCK, someone from each class recognized me from CURSE OF THE NUN. I have never been recognized before, so that was a huge first.

Last week I shot an industrial film for Gideons International, they are the group that supplies Bibles in hotels all over the world. Everyone was so nice and I had fun improvising on set. However, unless you are a Gideon, you won’t see this training film.

And finally, I have auditioned more this year than any other year as a professional actor. That’s good news. It means production is returning from the pandemic and it also means that a lot of casting directors want to see me. That can only lead to eventually getting more work.

Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen when you are outside this summer. Until next time, please know I truly appreciate your interest in my career.
