How is Everyone Doing? This “new normal” is definitely NOT normal. But I’m adapting as you are, I’m sure.

I booked work during COVID!! I booked a commercial for the Northeast Georgia Hospital System in Georgia. I play a doctor and the commercial will begin running in the Atlanta area in August. If I get a copy of it, I’ll share it here and on my social media. If you live in the Atlanta area, look for it. As you can imagine, there are new protocols for on-set safety, and I was happy to comply.

And, I shot a short film inspired by the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement, called BLACK THOUGHTS. When it drops, I’ll be sure to share it.

My work as a standardized patient (aka fake medical patient) stopped for a while, then slowly started back up, mostly via Zoom. I have begun to have some encounters in person. This work is important for learners in the medical profession and I am grateful to be a part of it.

Online learning. I have taken Zoom classes and watched hours of online acting lessons because I believe it is important to constantly work on my skills. I was able to keep up with the various lessons offered by coaches all over the United States for a while, and then “boom” there were classes or seminars offered at multiple times every day. Now I’m trying to watch or attend the ones that most appeal to me and accept that I can’t be a part of them all.

I recently learned that two projects I’ve been in have been nominated or won awards at various film festivals around the United States. The pilot for the web series “IT’S COMPLICATED” (where I play a woman who divorced her husband because she realizes she is gay) has won awards for best web series, best screenplay and best directing. The short film I’LL TELL YOU WHEN YOU’RE OLDER, a short film I shot last year, has been accepted in film festivals in Miami, Philadelphia, Amsterdam, New York and Indianapolis and the young actor who plays my son in the film won an award.

And if you have TUBI streaming, you are now able to watch Season Two of THREE’S A PAIN. I’m only in one episode in Season Two, but every episode is so fun and funny. THREE’S A PAIN is comedy about three people living together: the main character, Regina; her slacker brother; and, her ex-boyfriend who is gay. I play their racist, homophobic neighbor.

And finally, I ran across this picture on Dollar General’s website of my elbow from a photo and video shoot that I shot last fall. If you weren’t at the shoot, you would not know that is me, but it is.

I want all of you to safely arrive on the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic. So please wear a mask in public when you can’t be socially distant from others and take care of yourself. Thank you for your interest. It means the world to me. Until next time,
Alice
