“Try to Remember the Kind of September….”

Where are those lyrics from? From THE FANTASTIKS, a wonderful musical by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones (not the ‘WHAT’S NEW PUSSYCAT’ Tom Jones, but rather another one.) I always think of that song in September. I have been in THE FANTASTIKS twice, both times playing The Mute. I was a MUTE in a MUSICAL…hmm….what does that say about my singing… Moving on.

The two projects I have shot during the pandemic have been released. One is a short film entitled BLACK THOUGHTS about the Black Lives Matter movement. It runs 30 minutes and is well worth your time to watch. Please spend 30 quiet minutes with this wonderful film. I would say that even if I wasn’t in it. Please watch it here https://youtu.be/4UHP6Z9XTf0
and feel free to share it. It was truly an honor to be a part of it.

And the other project is a commercial for a hospital in Georgia. It is currently running in the Atlanta area and if you live there, you may have seen it. If not, click this link and watch it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umic0XMonp0&feature=share&fbclid=IwAR0e1XfdR2yhOsf7MDdZ4GhNPdaLGcLkxbkk-EcA5qIRds5hnRp7zbVKi94.

Additionally, I have been fairly busy as a standardized (aka “fake”) patient for medical schools in the Southeast. I’ve been doing it both in person and remotely. As an actor, it may be some of the most important work I ever do. I would have never thought I would have been paid to be an actor while working from home. So, I’m very grateful for it.

I have decided not to do any live murder mystery company shows until I have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Performing without a face mask around others who are eating, drinking and not wearing a mask just doesn’t seem wise. I must protect myself and my family first. I already miss my actor friends and playing with them. But I believe I have made the right decision. It will be a sweet return to live performing when that day comes.

And finally, it’s time for a new actor calling card. That means new headshots. Ugh. I’ve been preparing by working with an image consultant. I’ve also booked a headshot photographer I’ve never worked with before, but whose work I admire and she’s a great person. I’ve also asked my beloved to create a playlist of music for me, so I’ll be in the right mood during the photography. Wish me luck. Headshots are a pain, are expensive, are not fun but are absolutely necessary unless you are a name talent.

I know projects are starting back, I have friends working behind the scenes in Atlanta. Auditions are coming in, so slowly things are returning. But until things are back to normal, I’m doing all I can to take care of myself and work on my craft.

Thanks for your interest, it means the world to me.
