Latest News - OCTOBER 2019
Hey Friends!

Is it HOT enough for you??? It is record-breaking-hot here in the Southeast and is autumn in name only. Fortunately, I’ve also had a bit of a hot streak with my work.

The month started out with multiple wins in various categories and THIRD PLACE overall for the film I was in for the Nashville 48-Hour Film Project. Our film genre was “political”, and the title was “The 2020 Vice-Presidential Debattle.” There were 48 films submitted so our team was thrilled to do so well. Here is a pic of some of the team holding our awards.

Then later this month I had the HUGE opportunity to take a workshop with Miranda Harcourt who is Nicole Kidman’s on-set coach. OMG. It was an amazing experience and I felt like Miranda changed the molecules in the room. From the workshop, I have a list of exercises, things to ponder and practice, movies to watch and books to read. Many people don’t realize that major actors often have on-set coaches, very much like athletes who have coaches on their field of play. If I ever have the funds for a coach, I want Miranda Harcourt. Just wow.
A bonus from the workshop is a famous talent who was once on a prime-time soap (that I was obsessed with) sat beside me. I didn’t recognize her (the soap ended a couple of decades ago) but when she announced her name, I needed a moment to process… “I’m sitting BESIDE XXXXX…OMG” This actor was humble and seemed to be such a sweet person. She didn’t flaunt her resume or her accomplishments. She was there to learn just as I was. The entire day blew my mind in so many ways. Here are photos of us from the workshop.

I shot my scenes for an upcoming horror film, currently titled OUIJA CRAFT. It was an outdoor shoot. Though I love being an actor, being outside for 10-hours in the hot, humid Southeast is definitely not glamourous. Some scenes were shot at night in a forest. This arachnophobe had to put her “big-girl” pants on and just deal with it. It was a fun shoot in soooo many ways, but when I was finally wrapped, I was happy.

Here's a pic from the set of OUIJA CRAFT.

Finally, I participated in a reading of a new play for young audiences titled CAPTAIN AURORA. It is a story about a boy who is a star living in a triangle world. I played the boy’s mother trying her best to help her son fit in. The issues in the story allude to those on the autism spectrum. The play addresses complex issues in a sensitive way. I feel honored to be a part of art that can help those on the autism spectrum and can help others better understand what it is like to be on the autism spectrum.
If you are in the Southeast, I’m sure we will eventually get relief from this heat. If you are elsewhere, please enjoy your moderate temps. My acting work will cool off as well. Feast and famine or hot and cold is how this career works. As always, thank you for your support.
